How to Save Money at Mobile Pet Doc

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I reached out on Saturday night, they got back to me early the next day, and I had an appointment scheduled for that Monday. I have a senior Anatolian with mobility issues, so getting him to the vet has become nearly impossible. Melissa and the team were prompt, incredible with him, and very understanding of his needs. The whole process was easy, professional, and incredibly affordable for the service they provide. They were also able to fill a prescription on the spot, which was a huge help. I genuinely wish I had discovered them sooner. Highly recommend Mobile Pet Docs!

I had Mobile Pet Doc (Dr. Cubelo + her crew) come out to get my 3 basset hounds up to date on their vaccines. They get very anxious going to the vet office, so having the option for mobile vet care helped a lot. They were on time, very professional, and made the whole process much less stressful for my dogs. I would definitely recommend them to anyone with anxious pets or multiple animals.

What an amazing experience! I have a 12 year old shepherd mix and going to the Vet was always an extremely anxious event for both of us. She needed to be muzzled because she's incredibly reactionary with huge anxiety issues made worse with medication designed to calm. Her hearing started to go this summer and she became very visually dependent on me or family/friends. I had to take her to the Veterinarian in December and when they took her back for her examine, (she couldn't see me anymore) my Kharma girl made the most horrifying heart wrenching crying I've ever heard from a dog. I started balling my eyes out and swore to my old lady dog that she would never have to experience that trauma again. I found Dr. Mckendry online and set up the appointment after reading great reviews. My Kharma girl was apprehensive about getting into the van at first, but peanut butter treats offered by them helped and the fact that she could see me and I could touch/ talk to her the whole time, made the exam SO much less stressful! They were so patient with us and Kharma did not make 1 sound. Not even a whimper. (We even took blood!) Absolutely the best Veterinary exam ever and I highly recommend them!

Amazing 10/10 best vet experience of my life. I have had a dog for a few months and he is leash reactive so going to the Vet is stressful for me, but this was so so easy, they came to my house right on time, walked my dog to the van and it was so straight forward, they had everything they needed. Less than 30mins later I was back inside my house with my calm happy pup.

We recently used Mobile Pet Doc for our senior girl Rexy because she can’t get in the car anymore, and I’m so thankful we found them. From the moment they arrived, they were so kind, patient, and gentle with Rexy. You could tell right away how much they truly care about animals and making them feel comfortable. I can’t say enough good things about Mobile Pet Doc — their compassion and care made such a difference. We’ll definitely be calling them again for all of Rexy’s future visits. 💛🐾
