How to Save Money at Bioshield Hyberbaric

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our suddenly paralyzed from the neck down, young 4-year old boxer dog, made MIRACULOUS progress by doing hyperbaric chamber treatments through Dr. Troy at BioShield Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment. After a random neurological issue happened, he couldn’t stand (or even attempt to stand), walk, eat properly, go to the bathroom on his own etc- he was fully paralyzed from the neck down with absolutely no leg or bowel functions at all. His legs were lifeless. We waited several weeks with no progress naturally. When we went to put him down, our vet convinced us to instead try hyperbaric chamber treatments with Dr. Troy. After each hyperbaric chamber treatment, Kaz would come out of the treatment having healed from something each time- I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. For example, his very first hyperbaric chamber treatment, he came out breathing better and many of his respiratory and eating/drinking issues from throat paralysis went away. Then his bowels came back. Another time, immediately after coming out of another session, he suddenly started moving his front leg for the very first time. Each session helped him with some sort of progress. Until he was walking again! Today, a few months later, Kazik can walk with a limp and even tries to run…he runs funny but he still runs. His front legs are at 100% and his back legs are at about 60% and work but are a little wobbly and not as sturdy as they should be. He may not be able to hike up a mountain with us again or jump up into our car on his own, but he can walk, run, go up reasonably height stairs and now lives a happy relatively normal life. He runs after toys, plays tug of war, chases the kids, spins circles in excitement, etc. He’s back to his hyper boxer life and is very loved and spoiled. Fully paralyzed to running again is quite the 180 turn. We are forever grateful to Dr Troy and his team. They saved our baby. The treatments are miraculous but him and his team are also so loving and cared about the details, throughout the whole process. I was so skeptical and it was miraculous for us. Try it- it worked for us! (Photos at varying states)

My toy poodle started having back issues several years ago, presenting as intermittent loss of use of her hind leg. We went to several vets, local and distant, including some specialists who wanted to do back surgery, which can be risky and doesn't necessarily come with a good prognosis. We tried different kinds of medications and treatments, but the only thing that has worked to keep Lola pain-free and active is an anti-inflammatory medication coupled with regular hyperbaric treatments. And the hyperbaric treatments on a regular basis are a must. Lola does well with the anti-inflammatory medication for a while, but then gets painful again. A periodic hyperbaric treatment seems to reset her response to the medication, and she can again be pain-free and active. Equally as important as the hyperbaric treatments themselves, Troy Walker demonstrates genuine compassion, and has a soothing demeanor with which he interacts with animals and people. He is understanding and patient, and able to provide reassurance to both pets and owners. I trust him to care for my precious little girl. I highly recommend BioShield HBO, and count Troy and his service providing hyperbaric treatments among my blessings because of the person he is, and the benefit he provides to Lola.
