How to Save Money at Non-Emergency - CCVS Tower Hill Outpatient Surgery & Dentistry

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I cannot say enough good things about this practice and the staff. From the front desk to the techs to the veterinary specialist all were amazing. My standard poodle had been evaluated for a lesion on his gum. Dr. Stanley reviewed all the possible scenarios and explained everything in perfect detail. I was allowed to "camp out" in one of their comfy consultation rooms while Fozzie Bear was in his procedure. Once finished they brought my sweet boy to rest with me in the room. His gum looks great and the tooth was preserved. I would highly recommend 👌🏼 👍🏻 ☺️

If your pet needs CCL (ACL) surgery, CCVS is the best place to go — hands down. No one wants to deal with an injury like this, but I am so grateful we chose CCVS for Canter’s surgery. Dr. Stanley and the entire team are exceptional. From start to finish, the process was seamless and incredibly compassionate. They understand that surgery is stressful for both the pet and the owner. I received text updates when Canter went under anesthesia and when the procedure began. Dr. Stanley personally called me after surgery to explain exactly what was done and what to expect during recovery. That level of communication gave me so much peace of mind. At pickup, they thoroughly reviewed home care instructions and made sure I felt confident bringing him home. Plus, having a 24-hour Pet ER connected to the clinic adds another layer of reassurance. I would never wish this injury on anyone, but if you find yourself facing it, I can’t recommend CCVS highly enough. The skill, compassion, and communication truly set them apart from anywhere else in the area.

I was referred to CCVS from my veterinarian in Dunnellon, FL and very glad. My female chihuahua mix Pepper developed a small mass on her rear which my Vet did not feel comfortable removing. I immediately called CCVS and was given an appt to evaluate Pepper. What a beautiful and calming environment. Dr. Sammy came in to see Pepper and I knew immediately we were in the right place. Dr. Sammy assured me that he could remove the mass without any concerns. Those words relaxed me and made me so comfortable going forward. Pepper's surgery was scheduled the following week. I was given her pre meds and the surgical estimate to take home. The tech staff are so efficient and thorough going over everything with me. Dr. Sammy wrote a very thorough evaluation of Pepper and sent it to me the same day by email. After surgery, he sent a follow-up. I have owned dogs my whole life and never experienced this peaceful comfort, treatment and faith in another hospital. Pepper's surgery was flawless and I was kept communicated by the staff through the whole process. From day one Pepper has had no discomfort and never skipped a beat in her routine. I am in awe of this hospital's outstanding high medical standards.

We were referred to CCVS after a mass was discovered on our 11-year-old dog Ruby’s neck and diagnosed as thyroid carcinoma. From our very first consultation, Dr. Stanley and his team provided exceptional care, professionalism, and compassion. Dr. Stanley took the time to thoroughly explain Ruby’s diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis, ensuring that we felt informed and comfortable every step of the way. The entire staff was patient, knowledgeable, and always willing to answer our questions, which gave us tremendous confidence when making the difficult decision to proceed with surgery. Given Ruby’s age, we naturally had concerns about surgery, but the team carefully evaluated her health beforehand through bloodwork and diagnostic testing to ensure she was a good candidate. On the day of the procedure, I was incredibly nervous, but the frequent updates and communication throughout the process provided much-needed reassurance and peace of mind. Ruby’s recovery exceeded our expectations. The staff continued to check in after surgery, making sure she was healing well and addressing any concerns we had. Thanks to the expertise and care of Dr. Stanley and the entire CCVS team, Ruby is now expected to enjoy several more healthy years with us. We are beyond grateful for the outstanding care she received and the positive outcome we were given. We wholeheartedly recommend CCVS to anyone facing a difficult medical decision for their beloved pet. The compassion, skill, and support we experienced throughout Ruby’s journey were nothing short of exceptional.

Dr. Jessie Stanley was incredibly kind, patient, and caring during my experience at the practice. I have a cat with unusual mammary mass history. We were up against a scary diagnosis. When I came in for biopsy, he took his time and was very intentional and attentive. He listened to everything I said without discounting or belittling me. Very happy to report that my cat was then and is now (still!) cancer-free. I really appreciated his demeanor and competence during that time. The entire staff was very kind and capable. I have recommended them several times to people who are up against scary news.
