How to Save Money at Pet Luv Non Profit Spay Center

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

After seeing so many positive recommendations on Facebook, I decided to choose PetLuv for my kitten’s spay procedure. There was a bit of a wait for an appointment, but I was completely fine with that because I wanted to make sure she was going to the best place and would be in good hands. Her appointment was yesterday, and everyone I interacted with was incredibly kind and helpful. They were even able to take us in a little earlier than our scheduled time, which worked out great since I had to get to work. They also allowed me to pick her up a bit before the scheduled pickup time, which I really appreciated because I was ready to see my little girl. So far, she's been doing very well. Her incision site looks clean and is healing beautifully. The total cost was very affordable as well. I chose to spend a little extra for the extended pain medication, but even with that added cost, it was still very reasonable compared to some other places. Overall, I had a great experience and would absolutely bring any future pets here for spay/neuter services. Thank you for taking such good care of my girl!

Wonderful and helpful staff I took my rescued kitten back mid October... they have a kitten pack that includes their first shots deworming and nail clipping for $61. It's not on their website but apparently I found out when taking the second kitten (just recently) you have to have been in possession of the kitten or whatever animal you have rescued and adopted for at least 7 or 8 days, before they can provide any service. That being said there's still a great organization and their care for your animal is their top priority.

Great great place to take your animal for spay/neutering, shots, and microchipping. Their prices are outstanding, you genuinely couldn’t find better. Microchipping for $20 and spaying for a formal cat $50. You can’t beat that. They seem to genuinely care for each and every animal. I found out that my kitty had to be intubated (at no extra charge!) as a precaution during her spaying due to a change in her gum coloring and I’m so grateful that she was in the hands she was. They clearly are very vigilant and make sure to take every precaution to make sure your baby is safe and well taken care of. It’s been a week and she’s feeling and doing wonderfully.

They go above and beyond to treat each client with friendly, efficient and helpful service. Although the line was long they keep it moving and get your dog/cat taken care of promptly. Frankie enjoyed his visit!

Absolutely love everything about this place. Timely, organized, effective communication, responsive, friendly, clean, knowledgeable and very very very good with the animals and for the price, it’s a dreamland. My dog got spayed, rabies vaccine, and heart worm test all in one day, with the medication it was only around $100! Where would you ever get all that done on the same day and for that price?! The ladies in the front, informative and patient. The nurse that took my dog back was so kind and caring. The operation went well. My dog came back same day pooping and sleeping. Woke up ate, drank, and not in any pain. Highly pleased with this place and the angels working. I pray you guys expand and have a full service clinic, I’d keep driving the hour there to come see y’all.
