Great Insurance Company

My English Bulldog 'Tank' was sixteen weeks old when he was hospitalized, with a non-cardiac pulmonary edema and respiratory pneumonia. When he was omitted to the hospital he was struggling to breath and the doctors gave him hours to live. He spent the next 7 days (3 days on a ventilator)fighting for his life. Tank left the hospital with no long-term affects and a $9,000 plus hospital bill. Trupanion was amazing, they handled Tank's claim swiftly and without objection. I would highly recommend Trupanion to anyone considering health insurance for their pet. They provide the most comprehensive coverage with the least nummer of restrictions.

Great Insurance, Fast Reimbursement!

We are new dog owners and wanted to make sure that our puppy was covered with the best insurance, at the best price. Embrace met our requirments, and I can say it's level of service has far exceeded our expectations. We have now made 2 claims for wellness visits, and I am more than impressed with the speed and efficiency of the reimbursement process. Our first claim of $85 was returned to us in 12 days (including mail time) on a paper check. I called Embrace and got set up for direct deposit for the future. Our next claim was for $285 for our puppy to be spayed, and microchipped. The procedure was on the 4th of January. I emailed in the claim on the 5th, and was notified on the 6th that it had been received, and being processed. On the 10th I got notice that it had been approved for payment. And today (the 13th) it had posted on my bank statement as an electronic deposit! I have no complaints on the service, or the turn around time on claims. Every time I have called the people answering the phones have been pleasant, and very helpful. This is the way customer service should be. Keep it up Embrace! I would only ask that Schnoodles be added to the 'breed' section of the pulldown menu. :)

The Last Thing You Want to Think About

When your dog gets hit by a car, the last thing you want to think about is how you're going to afford treatment. Luckily, I didn't have to spend time worrying about this when it happened to my dog, Jackson. If you think your dog won't get into an accident like that, get the insurance anyway. Just in case. Collars break, leashes come off, pets sneak out the front door. The claims process has been very easy. My claims from the emergency treatment and subsequent vet visits have all been processed in just a little over a week. Overall, great experience. Better than my own insurance company.

first experience with Trupanion Canada

I have owned several dogs over the years and my 9 year old doberman has cost me a fortune (I swear I could have put a child through university by now!). I adopted a rescue chihuahua last year, and after much research and deliberation I decided to get pet insurance for her; I recently added my second adopted rescue dog to my policy. Most of my family and friends were skeptical - so I must share my 1st Trupanion claim experience. Just before Christmas I noticed a lump on my chihuahua; the vet was quite concerned and the lump was removed via costly surgery. My vet submitted the claim form to Trupanion and within 2 weeks I recevied notice that the claim was processed. I am very impressed and quite relieved to have pet insurance for my chihuahua. My doberman was just diagnosed with cardiomyopathy ($1700) and another vet bill was overwhelming! Unfortunately, it's too late to sign him up now :-( But, if I knew then, what I know now... I highly recommend pet insurance from Trupanion; this 1st experience has been excellent. I will never be without pet insurance again - owning a pet is so expensive nowadays.

False Advertising

I had good experiences with Trupanion, until they tried to raise my rates. They advertise "no increases due to pet's age/claim history". HOWEVER, they have raised my rates by almost 100% over the last 2 years. When I signed up my first pet, I was paying $38/month.....1 year later, they raised it to $50/month. Today I received a letter saying they now want $65/month. I never even made a claim for this dog! With 2 dogs, that gets quite expensive, especially considering they dont cover dental, and even less is covered if your dog isnt neutered by age 1. (For example, if you get your dog neutered ANY time after they turn 1, and they get hit by a car, they wont cover it! What does neutering have to do with getting hit by a car?) Their reasoning for raising the rates is: "costs of veterinary care in your area went up this year"....funny, considering my vet lowered their fees this year. Needless to say, I cancelled my policy today. I would rather keep the $1500/year in my bank account, rather than give it to this greedy business. 2/10 because of their friendly customer support. Otherwise it would be a ZERO.
