Is Pet Insurance Worth It?
I signed up for Trupanion when I purchased my Cavalier at 3 mos. I did my research and Trupanion seemed like you got the best coverage for the best rate. Woops! Fortunately, I had no claims during the first year. Trupanion states in all their literature that their rates only go up based on Vet care in your area and breed. Nothing about increases approved by the state insurance commissioner or their profit and loss. After one year my rate went from $34 a month to $66. You can read all the reviews with their spokesperson's responses and it's the same mantra. It appears that they have now changed their policy and increases will be a regular occurrence based on additional criteria they are now implementing. I then began my search for a new company. VPI had a list of exclusions pages and pages long. Forget them. Others have increases as your pet ages, and some were even more than my newly adjusted premium. Reviews of various companies address claims concerns. Some claim denials seemed reasonable, but a good portion seemed unreasonable, i.e. your vet didn't provide as detailed documentation and now the insured is out of luck. Bottom line, unless you're the unlucky pet owner that spends a great deal of time at the vet, put your high monthly premium in the bank. For me over the course of 14 years, barring any further outrageous increases from Trupanion, I will have banked $11,088, not including that tiny bit of interest you earn at the bank today. It's my first time with pet insurance and after many trips to the vet I decided to buy embrace ins. I am very pleased with the company and the claims are processed quickly. When my yellow lab was diagnosed with elbow problems,I am very glad to have some insurance to help her. I would recommend embrace to anyone who has pets.They also keep in touch by email which is helpful. It's a good company.Thank you Embrace.

Great Insurance...But
I like the friendly people I get e-mails from and speak to on the phone but, So far every claim I have submitted has no been processed correctly. I really like this insurance and have chosen to stay but they need to educate their staff on how to properly read an itemized bill so they can pay the claims properly on the first submission.

Great Product!!!
I decided to get pet insurance after a couple super expensive bills I got from our local animal hospital that I had to pay out of pocket. I dog the insurance at what I think is a very fair price. I had it for about a year until my dog Sara developed a mammary tumor that had to be removed. I felt peace of mind knowing that I had my insurance to fall on to. Even though it wont cover the whole bill it helps so much. The claim take about to months to process and it will cover over 60% of your expenses. I think this is a great service and recommend it to anyone that owns a pet. WORTH EVERY DIME!!!

Peace of mind
I've used ASPCA Pet Insurance for my two pugs for the last four years. Fortunately, other than the wellness benefits, I have not had to summit claims for any major medical. I have a 1 1/2 hear old yellow labe named Hailey,who jumped in a snow bank to chase a squirrel, and when she jumped she tore her cruciate and had to have a TPLO to fix the leg. My claim was pretty high and Trupanion paid the claim much to my satisfaction.
