Couldn't Ask For Any Better
We had two claims for our dog. Both were addressed, processed and completed within a week we had the check in our mailbox. These people are EXEMPLARY. My personal health insurance people could learn much from Trupanion

Pay Attention to the Fine Print
I paid for this insurance for 6 months and cancelled today. They interpret their pre-existing conditions clause very strictly. If your pet gets the same illness, ASPCA won't pay anything until after 180 days have passed since the illness was treated. I don't see the point of a pre-existing clause at all. Our government is about to get rid of pre-existing clauses for humans so why should this apply to our pets? Another kicker is the $100 annual deductible. It took them 2 months to process my claim because they were requesting information from the vet. I waited 2 months and they didn't help pay anything due to pre-existing conditions. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this insurance to anyone. It's just a waste of money and a lot of stress.

Pet Insurance
They always handle the claims in a reasonable amount of time and clearly show what is covered and not covered in your EOB after the claim is processed. The only problem i have is that they never have covered over 50% of the vet bills. I would recommend the coverage overall.

Trupanion, a good insurance option
Our pet has been insured with Trupanion since we moved to the USA 6 months ago. We did some research and decided that it was a good option. Today we know that it was the best option because we received an excellent service after our Yorki swallowed something and got intoxicated. After submitting the claims, we started receiving e-Mail confirmations with the status and they contacted directly our vet to get the medical records. We received the reimbursment in lees than two weeks. I received my reimbursment checo in less than two weeks.

Good Customer Service!
I really appreciate the follow up I've received from ASPCA in regards to insurance reimbursement claims I have submitted over the years. The are quite prompt in responding and make the claim process quick and simple (email/fax/mail). In my experience, it has been well worth investing in insurance for our little Norfolk Terrier, who has needed route or emergency care on occassion.

I am very pleased with this insurance.
I have a young Gsd that I have taken out a policy that is extra for an on going problem.I have a Vet that takes a holistic approach to health&balance through diet ect.,my dog needs meds as well to help keep her from developing stones which would require surgery & would be quite painfull. The policy covers 80% of the meds cost & a yearly wellness visit with all the proactive testing I normally do twice a year so that is very helpfull.I also have the peace of mind that if God forbid something terrible were to occur, I would have insurance to help pay for it.Sincerily,Val Legaspi

Great Service - Great Company
I can't speak to other pet insurance companies' practices, as I've never used them. I can say, though, that my experience with Embrace has been really very pleasant, with fast turnaround times on claims and good communication to keep me informed of every step of the process. They've been very helpful, often asking the vet to fax add'l info to them when needed, rather than having me do it. Claims are paid at 80% after the yearly deductible, and the wait time for check-in-hand is only about 2 weeks from initial claim submission. I've had human health insurance claims that took longer! I'm a very pleased customer and would recommend Embrace to anyone.

Is Pet Insurance Worth It?
I signed up for Trupanion when I purchased my Cavalier at 3 mos. I did my research and Trupanion seemed like you got the best coverage for the best rate. Woops! Fortunately, I had no claims during the first year. Trupanion states in all their literature that their rates only go up based on Vet care in your area and breed. Nothing about increases approved by the state insurance commissioner or their profit and loss. After one year my rate went from $34 a month to $66. You can read all the reviews with their spokesperson's responses and it's the same mantra. It appears that they have now changed their policy and increases will be a regular occurrence based on additional criteria they are now implementing. I then began my search for a new company. VPI had a list of exclusions pages and pages long. Forget them. Others have increases as your pet ages, and some were even more than my newly adjusted premium. Reviews of various companies address claims concerns. Some claim denials seemed reasonable, but a good portion seemed unreasonable, i.e. your vet didn't provide as detailed documentation and now the insured is out of luck. Bottom line, unless you're the unlucky pet owner that spends a great deal of time at the vet, put your high monthly premium in the bank. For me over the course of 14 years, barring any further outrageous increases from Trupanion, I will have banked $11,088, not including that tiny bit of interest you earn at the bank today. In addition, you
