Does not meet expectations

I am going into my 2nd year with an ASPCA policy after switching from another carrier. This is the first year that I have accessed the policy for anything beyond routine exams and I have to say that I am disappointed. The policy and website indicate that the company reimburses claims based on the actual bill as opposed to set fees. However, the company uses "customary fees that are set geographically" which truly amounts to set fees that are based on where you live and have nothing to do with your actual bill. They then pay 80% of their "customary fee" which further minimizes the customer's reimbursment. In addition to receiving a reimbursment that was pennies on the dollar, the premiums for my plan increased by about 20% without notice! Needless to say, we are looking for new pet insurance.

So understanding and sympathetic

We have used Embrace for several years and now have our third dog enrolled. Our first dog Tater, a sweet and big hearted chocolate lab, recently passed away at the age of 2. In the short time of 2 weeks he succumbed to a rare auto-immune disease which no medicines helped. Before that he spent 6 months of his short life in a kennel recovering from elbow dysplasia operations. We were blessed that for a year prior to his death enjoyed the life of a bird dog, hunting and hiking. We would have never been able to see him run in the fields and swim in the lakes if it was not for Embrace. They helped us through both ordeals and never once indicated any concern about the procedures. We received written condolences on our loss and they reimbursed all his vet bills. They are very caring about our pets. I can only say, any reviews from dissatisfied customers are most likely because those individuals were trying to receive coverage after the fact, when they did not deserve it, or they did not follow the simple directions for the submittal form. We will continue to use Embrace and we hope we our other dogs never experience the pain and suffering Tater went through. He was a saint and never complained. We will miss him greatly.

Very pleased.

I've been dealing with cancer with my cat. Pets Best was literally a life-saver. I've been very pleased with the 80-20 plan and the speed that the claims have been handled. When I've called with questions the customer service people have been very knowledgable and sympathetic. I would, and have, recommend this pet insurance.

Pleasantly Surprised!

I Submitted two claims at the same time to be handled. I was impressed that I was notified that they received the claims from the vet and they would let me know within a certain time frame what amount would be covered. In less then 10 days I got an e-mail telling me that my dogs medication would be totally covered. I was very excited. A few days later I received my check. I am still waiting to hear about claim #2.This one is for extensive Dental surgery. I have no doubt it will be handled in a fair time frame. I am so happy that I chose this company and I have already told friends and family how impressed I am with Embrace.

Awesome

My 5 year old golden retriever had horrible diarrhea with blood. She ended up having to go to the ER Vet and needed to stay for a few days. Ultimately, she had a motility problem in her intestine and pebbles/rocks were in her stomach. Furthermore, through some testing it was discovered that she had a thyroid problem. My bill was approximately $2500. I had only bought my pet insurance plan about 4 months prior to the incident. Within 3 weeks I had my claim approved and Trupanion paid 90% of the medical costs. Everyone at Trupanion was very helpful and nice, which made the process go very smoothly! I was very thankful.

Great Service

My dog Coco had a few medical procedures due to an ear hematoma. This was the first time I have ever needed to submit an insurance claim. The ASPCA Pet Insurance representatives were helpful in guiding me step by step on the claim process. It was easy and with no hassles. Thank you.

Love the Wellness Plan

I recommend the Wellness Plan, especially for puppies. Unlike other insurers that only pay a portion of puppy type procedures (neutering, micro-chipping, vaccinations, heartworm plus heartworm pills), Embrace pays the total amount. You will receive a discount if you pay for a year up front, making your cost for $400 worth of coverage about $300. Add up all the puppy type expenses and you will probably spend the entire $400. Use the $100 you saved to help pay for the sickness and accident portion of the premium. Embrace will automatically apply 5% discounts to the sickness and accident premium for both neuter/spay procedures and micro-chipping, once the procedures are done.

Love Trupanion!

We signed up with Trupanion a few days after we brought our puppy home. A friend of ours has had a dog with numberous health issues and recommended getting insurance right away, as it would have saved her a significant amount of money. Our puppy has proved to be a typical puppy getting into trouble when he can and we've had a few visits to the ER. In both cases Trupanion covered 90% of our costs. It has more than paid for itself and we are so thankful to have it. I still think Trupanion is the best option out there, although I have no personal experience with the others. No reason for me to even consider switching, Trupanion has been amazing!
