Luckily I signed up with VPI as soon as I got my cat Jade and she had no pre-exisiting conditions. She is now diabetic and the plan more than pays for itself EVERY year! If you wait until they have a chronic illness, then you have waited too long. I would recommmend this to any pet owner who would pay more than $300 to save their animal. The deductible is $50/condition and I only have to pay that once a year for all her diabetic treatments. They did not come through during my diabetic emergency situation however - the bill was $3,000 and I was reimbursed $600.... Remember to put ALL possible diagnosis on the claim form. For example, my cat was bleeding from an unknown source and they check everything. It ended up being a UTI, but I put each possibile illness they were looking for on the claim form (gastritis, constipation, etc) and they will reimburse you out of each category. Do NOT just put what it ended up being or you will cheated.
