As an owner of one dog and three cats at the time that I purchased pet insurance coverage, I was concerned that I would just be throwing away my money, that the cost of care for my seemingly healthy pets would be far less than the cost of the premiums. Little did I know that Beasterz, our orange tabby had developed severe decay of several of his teeth and that 11 would require extraction. Simon, one of the other felines in our home also needed to have one tooth removed due to decay. We received reimbursement from VPI for the cost of Simon's tooth extraction and up to the policy maximum of $600 for Beasterz which helped quite a bit. Fortunately our dog, Jake, and our other cat, Jordan have been healthy and only required wellness care and vaccinations. I submitted my claim forms and the detailed invoices from my vets' offices online. I also submitted copies of the xrays with respect to Beasterz and Simon's dental work. I received checks for Jordan and Jake's care in less than two weeks and I received checks for Simon and Beasterz about a week later. Needless to say I was very pleased. In fact, I was so pleased that I recently purchased coverage for our new pet.
