I am very dissapointed with this Pet insurance company. I obtained insurance for my pet and although I knew that basic dental cleaning was not covered, I called and inquired about further details such as dental surgery or anesthesia. My dog, as most dogs, needed annual dental cleaning and received it. During an annual check up, the vet recommended dental cleaning. A few months later, I took him in and it turned out to be a very big surgery. Some of his teeth were infected and required extractions. There was no way of knowing this other than by xrays. I had the surgery done and submitted a claim to the insurance company. After my calls and long waits later and "lost paperwork", my claim was denied as a pre-existing condition because my dog had "dental disease". EVERY DOG has some form of dental disease that requires annual cleaning. There was no way to know that my dog had some infected teeth prior to his surgery. The thing was that I didn't expect the entire bill to be covered because I knew dental cleaning was not covered. I only wanted to have what they claim they WILL COVER "Petplan will cover non-routine dental treatments, provided your pet has had its teeth checked by a vet in the 12 months prior to the effective date of coverage, and any treatment recommended as a result of a veterinary check-up was carried out. Reimbursement subject to policy limits." WHAT A LIE!!! I am so dissapointed.
