Our Japanese Chin/Poodle cross began to limp last year and when we took her to our Vet she was diagnosed with ruptured tendons in her back leg. Prior to surgery tests were done to be sure she was able to tolerate the surgery and recover appropriately. At that time it was found she had developed Cushings Disease, and that needed to be controlled before surgery. The cost of the tests were very high, and without our insurance we would have had a very tough decision to make. We had taken out insurance a couple of years prior after Suki broke her leg jumping off furniture, deciding then that for her remaining years which we estimated to be between 5 - 8, we would be dollars ahead, or at least even, if she suffered any other injury/illness. Our Vet gave us information on a number of insurance companies, and we chose Trupanion. They e-mailed us immediately after receiving the first submission from the Vet that the claim had been approved, and since that time all bills have been paid promptly. We could not be more pleased with the communications and coverage Trupanion has provided for us, and based on our experience, never again would we have a pet without insurance.
