Our 10 month old Bernese Mountain Dog wasn't normal on Saturday, being sluggish and generally miserable. Sunday she stopped eating all together. Monday morning, we were at our vet. After some x-rays, it looked like there was a blockage. Now off to an ultrasound to confirm and possible surgery. Two hours later, I was worrying about the health of our dog and whether the blockage would require removing a portion of her colin. What I wasn't worrying about was the bill. Between the 2 vet visits and the surgery, the total was over $4,000. I got the insurance when she was 3 months old, since our previous Lab had over $20,000 in emergency vet bills over her 12 years. True to their word, the paid the percentage I had signed up for and it took about a week to receive the check from the day I faxed over the paperwork. Great turn around. All I know now is that, the insurance has already paid for 53 months of monthly payments. Well worth it. Just the piece of mind, that I don't have to worry about the cost, just to get our dog better, makes it all worth while.
