We have had VPI for a few years now and every time I call to see if they will pay for a procedure, they tell me it will be denied. Most recently, my dog developed not one but two 'cherry' eyes and needs surgery. She is an Akita who has issues, they all have issues. That is the reason I got pet insurance. But they are using the excuse that they will not pay for the operation needed because Akitas are 'prone' to this condition. As I told the supervisor, I just had a mechanical heart implanted. If they told me they would not do it because I was 'prone' to having it, I would be dead. How can they do the same thing with our precious pets? It sickens me to think that I can't help my pet because of my own medical bills in spite of having this insurance. I am dropping it as soon as possible. It would be much better for me to put the money in a savings account to better protect her.
