So our little Chihuahua/Rat Terrier gets bit by the injury bug quite often. PetPlan saved us with her most recent injury. She had a ruptured vertebral disc in her back that pinched her spinal cord, leaving her temporarily unable walk with her hind legs.
The entire diagnosis, surgery, etc. costs us over $5000. Knowing that we own 3 cats and a dog, and that these things happen, we have a credit card that we keep at least 8K open on in case of emergencies.
We had her surgery, she is recovering great, and we are being reimbursed over $4500 from PetPlan. Fast service, Great customer service, and always willing to answer our questions and work with our vet.
MAKE SURE YOU READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AKA THE FINE PRINT. Knee displasia, while covered, must not happen within the first 5 months of signing up. We took our dog to the vet 4 months after we signed up and the knee problem was discovered. This is now not covered by Petplan, even though it was NOT a pre-existing condition. Really no fault of PetPlan, but just be careful to read the fine print.
Otherwise, I rate a 10...mainly because of the way our girls back injury was handled...with care.
