We have an English bulldog and are frequent flyers at the vet. Having VPI makes this much less of a concern financially. When my mom got a Havanese last year, she made sure she had it as well, because I spoke so highly of the insurance. That being said, I've really only had one issue with VPI. When he was a puppy, he had puppy acne, which I reported. Now ALL dermatitis is preexisting, which I don't believe is fair (also because the acne NEVER came back). A few years ago he had a bunch of tests to rule out lupus and other things, and when the result came back as dermatitis, I was not reimbursed. It seemed like a runaround way to avoid paying me back. But I would not go back and cancel the policy at all. It's totally worth it, even for the minor headaches here and there.
