I have to admit, I wasn't wild about the idea of pet insurance. My own health insurance is high enough much less paying for my spoiled cats. However, a family member had an experience where she had to be evacuated and she wasn't well prepared for herself or her pets and watching her go through that experience I was thinking I needed to be better prepare for extreme circumstances. I wrote out an emergency plan that included things for my friends to take care of in case of an emergency if I'm incapacitated or if I was out of town and couldn't get to my cats and that included their pet insurance. I got a lot of razzing from friends for this and admittedly was feeling a little silly about doing this. I went a couple of years without having to file a claim, but went I bought my last cat home, there came just a number of health issues that happened all at once with all of my cats. Two of them came down with peritonitis, two of them got into a fight and had to get stitches, ear infections, eye infections, etc. and with mounting vet bills I had to finally put in claims. I was pleasantly surprised overall of the amount I got back, especially on my first claim (about 86%). Other claims didn't yield as much of a return, however I have received more in claims than I put out in premiums that year so I have no complaints. All of my claims were paid quickly, customer services is great and helpful and I would recommend VPI without hesitation. So even though it wasn't the big cat
