I bought VPI Insurance for my dogs about three years ago as a birthday gift for them. I wasn't sure if we were going to keep it after the first year because it seemed like we didn't need it. The same week I was going to cancel the policy, there was a major accident and had to take one of our girls to Ohio State University Animal Hospital for urgent treatment. After that incident, I realized how lucky we were to have VPI Insurance. We had no problem getting the best care possible for our girl and no worries about the financial burden that one can feel when these situations occur. We would have spent whatever it took to treat our girl whether we had insurance or not but, having VPI Insurance made our decision much easier. The process for sending in the claims is quick and easy. The reimbursement is mailed to you in the form of a check within 2-4 weeks (which is faster than standard insurance claims for humans). The reimbursement check comes with a detailed description of the diagnosis codes, benefits paid and deductible information. If there is a problem with the claim, there is a detailed explanation as to why and how to resubmit it. We have had a a great experience with VPI Insurance and are so glad that we have it, it is affordable and has practically paid for itself.
