Shadow, our 5-year old black lab, developed diabetes mellitus in June 2008. In September 2008 he was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. In January 2009 we noticed cataracts in both his eyes. In March 2009 he was diagnosed with two cardiac conditions - low heart beats and atrial standstill - a pacemaker was inserted to correct the former. For more than a year of heart-breaking news, diagnostic tests, treatments, surgeries for pacemaker and cataracts and ongoing re-checks, cost us thousands of dollars. We are so thankful Shadow was insured with VetInsurance when he was a 5-month old puppy. With the incredible support we received from VetInsurance, we never had to worry for medical coverage for our beloved pet. I always got an email approving my claim within 24-48 hrs, and in a few days a cheque arrived. Shadow is doing great now, but has to be monitored all his life, and we are so thankful that we could always give him the timely medical care he needed because of VetInsurance, Dr Alan Norris of VEC Toronto and the staff and doctors at University of Gueplh Veterinary College.
