I have worked in the insurance industry for many years and just happened across this website after insuring my new puppy with VPI. I would have to say this is the lowest I have ever seen claims paid in my entire career history. They have a very nice website that makes you feel like you are getting great coverage. DON'T BE FOOLED!! Do your research. I was told we could upgrade our coverage to include the neuter/spay/dental option at anytime - only to now be told we have to wait until our renewal date. They blatantly lied. Yes they do have well pet coverage - but they pay almost nothing for annual exam costs, flea and tick prevention, etc. You need to buy health insurance for your new puppy asap if you are going to have it at all. We are looking at other comprehensive plans - possibly without wellness. My top two so far are PetPlan US and Pets Best - although PetPlan US does not have wellness, prevention, neutering or dental included. Pets Best has a hereditary cap at $2500(like hip dysplasia) and they only cover $100 for an ACLU. You really need to weigh your options - but VPI should not be one you consider.
