I have a policy with VPI (Superior Plan)for my toy poodle (adopted at 3yrs of age) who was recently diagnosed by a Veterinary Ophthamologist with Juvenile Cataracts. A claim was submitted after surgery, on both eyes and was denied due to the fact that Juvenile cataracts are considered an inherited condition under 6yrs of age. According to VPI my poodle was short of 6yrs by 4mos, in order to qualify. It is not stated explicitly on the policy that Juvenile cataracts is an excluded condition. The surgical fee was $3,600. I certainly would not recommend this company to anyone in the future.
