Simply the BEST!!!

Out of 10

Previously we had other health insurance for our dogs. The few times we had to make a claim, we were always diappointed - where did these figures come from? How can they pay us so little? When our new Rottweiler puppy was about to join our family, I really searched for pet insurance. They all seemed the same as what we had already experienced and then I read about Embrace. The notion of actually reimbursing for costs on a regional basis made sense. I agreed with the philosophy of not paying for well visits and not paying premiums for that either. Embrace has been wonderful! Our puppy has had some problems and we are able to get him whatever health services he needs because Embrace is standing right beside us. I can't imagine why I don't see more promotional advertising at the Vet's office, for Embrace. The "other" guys must be paying the Vet's to have their name in front of the public. I tell all who will listen that Embrace is the only pet insurance you need. They are an honest, caring company and my dog is proof of that. You may waste your money with another company or you can get started on the right foot with Embrace!

I take some offense to the comment that the vets are taking money to advertise a particular company. Quite frankly, we have enough to learn about, and pet insurance is something that the owner of the pet will have to research for themselves. The displays in the office are the result of the work that sales reps do, pushing their products to the office managers and staff. If Embrace wants to advertise within veterinary clinics, all they need to do is send information and reps to the doctors offices and speak with the office manager regarding displays. Why am I on this site? Because I am also looking for pet insurance for my pet and I, like each of my clients, have to wade through the information to pick a company and a plan that works for me.

I find all the comments on this site helpful. I am getting my first puppy and I want to make sure he gets the best care without breaking the bank. It is important to me to find good insurance for my little guy just like I searched for good insurance for my children. I agree with Dr. W it is not the vets job to find insurance no more than it is the medical doctors job. Thanks Dr. W your comments were extremely helpful

I recently bought a Mini Schnauer. She was born 3-8-09. She is a Female black. I am trying to find an Insurance for her. I read Embrace and it seemed to be a good place to go. I would like someone who has used this insurance to tell me of their satisfaction or dis satisfaction and why. I love this little girl so much.Thankyou

I agree with Dr. W.Pet insurance companies are all too happy for veterinarians to place their displays in their offices. Many times the veterinarian knows very little about pet insurance in general or the company's plans in particular. They have the brochures as a convenience in case a client asks about pet insurance. This should give pet owners interested in pet insurance for their pet pause when asking their veterinarian for a recommendation on which pet insurance company they think is the best.

I'm sure there may be some veterinarians who have adequately researched all the companies and settled on a company they wouldn't hesitate to recommend, but as Dr. W said, "Do your own research."

For help in doing research, go to and download the Pet Insurance Research Guide from the sidebar.

By the way, is a MUST site to incorporate into your research for the right company and policy for your pet!

I'm quite surprised by the couple of negative comments.
Like many here have said, I did my research and FINALLY found a company that offers what is essentially a major medical plan. We opted for a $500 annual deductible and illness/accident coverage for all 3 of our dogs in June 2007.

At that time, all the pet insurance companies except for Embrace charged for & included minimal coverage for routine exams, flea/tick/heartworm control products, etc. PLUS they charged a deductible for every visit.

Our feeling is that if we can't afford routine vaccines and exams, we shouldn't have pets.

Embrace's options allowed our grad student daughter to choose a lower deductible for her cat's plan - perfect, she doesn't have the income that we do.

We have always had the BEST service, nicest interactions with staff, and quick turn around on claims:)

What more could one ask for? EMBRACE!!!

P.S. To the person upset about not being able to insure her 12 year old cat, you're going to find this to be the case with 99% of companies. Age = more potential for ailments, not a good risk.
However, if one enrolls their pet with Embrace before age 9, they may stay on the rolls for life as long as the pet parent pays the premiums.

Also, all pet insurance policies cost more with each additional year of age, so don't be surprised when it costs more each year. This isn't just Embrace, it is all companies - pretty much the same for humans, too!

This one was also recommended to me from a friend. But very disappointed as it will not cover any ILLNESS things for our cat, who is a senior. She is 12 years old (though not too old), but they only cover accidents for that! No point.

Has anyone noticed most of the post are from 2008???? They need updated information. This company is horrible and people should know what they are getting into. Maybe 2 years ago they were on the right track but these days...not so much.

I can't really find any "helpful" information here. People who haven't yet submitted claims are raving about Embrace, and only one comment so far says they submitted a claim and it's been weeks with no word from the insurer. I don't mind spending $20/mo. on insurance, if I know I'm not going to have to chase down the insurer for reimbursement, and if I know they're NOT going to refuse reimbursement on some technicality. Is there anyone out there who has actuallyl submitted claims and had positive experiences or negative? We need some comparative information here!

I've read a lot about how great Embrace is. I've submitted several claims over the past 6 weeks and have yet to hear back. I am not feeling the love.

I like many people read comments about companies before using them. I was very impressed what I read about Embrace Pet Insurance. Now I am a customer and all the wonderful things I read about them are true. What a wonderful company to do business with and I have not had a claim yet. I enrolled all 3 of my cats. You can be sure that I will write about my experiences when I submit a claim or claims. The enrollrent was wonderful and the people are just plain awesome. Please everyone, sign up with Embrace. You will not be disappointed.Lee Marcussen

In re: "Has anyone noticed most of the post are from 2008????". It seems this person does not know how to use the back button.

I have to say that so far, having been through most of the Pet Insurance companies out there, that Embrace has been the best experience. The staff HAVE been the most attentive and helpful and thorough of any company out there, and even when I got very huffy over a claim initially being denied for an absurd pre-existing condition, they were very apologetic and realised the initial assessment was kind of nuts and rectified. Since then, every claim (and unfortunately there have been a few, from rattlesnake bites to severe hip dysplasia) has been dealt with quickly, efficiently, and even with them doing the legwork on my behalf. So far, very good.

I have a 5 yr old teacup (5lbs) poodle. She has been noted to have a tendon that snaps in and out on her rear leg and the vet mentioned she may need surgery in the future if it starts to hurt her. So far she just occasionally limps but doesn't hurt. Do the insurance companies look at these things and deny payment if they chose to call a problem a pre existing condition?

I am knew to Embrace and I am AMAZED as to how fabulous the entire experience has been so far. What a night and day difference from the DEPLORABLE Pet Insurance I had previously. I can sleep at night knowing my sweet pups have TRUE insurance with a company that actual has customer service, knowledge, and GREAT coverage. WOW what a concept!
