VPI is good for me in that I work for a vet hospital that offers us VPI coverage (which we pay for). If services are done at the hospital I work for, then the $50 deductible is waived. They seemed to pay a lot for my dog's tumor removal. However, when I have taken her to another vet clinic, it didn't pay that much. They paid 80% based on their own fee schedule which is not up to date with current vet prices which rise constantly due to the economy. I would recommend getting pet insurance, however VPI would be my second choice if it were not for working for a vet hospital.
