so I'm a new customer (since July), formerly with VPI, which covered a percentage of every test/exam etc even if the reimbursement amounts did suck. Tomorrow I go to the vet and will use Pet1st for the first time. I called Pet1st today to confirm whether they will cover an allergy test and it turns out they will cover it only if it results in a diagnoses of allergies. My reply to the operator was, "so you mean you'll pay for it only if my dog is sick?" and her reply was yes. So, if he's not sick, the test isn't covered. This is true for any tests- if your dog ain't sick, you don't get reimbursed. Nice.

Long story short: read the fine lines.

This is ridiculous - often multiple tests are needed for diagnosis. So, test are only covered if they come back positive? Great.

I think this review is wrong. they paid for all my pet's testing. my pet lost a bunch of weight in a short amount of time. the vet ran a lot of tests. they did bloodwork, xrays, and an ultrsound. all which were covered by petfirst. i think they only cover the tests if the pet is having problems, not if the owner just wants tests done.

No disrespect intended, but you have to realiZe how many tests could be performed per owners request (concerns) as to their pets health. Multiply those costs per policy holder and the amount would be staggering.Premiums and deductibles would be unaffordable.
