not worth it at all

We bought pet insurance primarily to cover illnesses or emergencies, which have cost thousands with previous pets. After being a VPI customer for almost 6 years, one of our cats had to go to emergency with a bladder issue. From $1200 in vet bills, VPI paid barely $200. If you carefully read their benefits table, that's about all you will ever get. It makes more sense to start a savings account just for vet bills - we've probably paid over $2400 in VPI premiums over the the last 6 years alone.
