We have VPI insurance on both our basset hounds. Unfortunately, the male decided to swallow a rock (before he was even a year old), and the resulting surgery cost about $1,400. VPI paid all but about $200. We thought we had the problem resolved, but then, lo and behold, he managed to find a gravel somewhere to swallow. VPI paid the same again, without complaint. That has been almost a year ago, and we're trying to keep a VERY close eye on him until he outgrows the rock-swallowing problem. With the few other things we've had, VPI has paid promptly and reasonably, I think. I recommend it strongly.
