VPI stood by me when my dog had cancer

I have nothing but praise for VPI. My greyhound, Hemi, was diagnosed with terminal cancer this past February. Specifically, the biopsy showed he had a adenocarcinoma in his small intestine. He needed emergency surgery because he was anemic, due to blood loss from the tumor. The surgery, blood transfusions, and immediate supportive care totaled well over $6000. From there he needed chemo, follow up ultrasounds, blood tests, medications, etc. The follow up treatments and chemo totaled another $5000 at least. All along I was submitting claims to VPI. I have a Superior Plan with a Cancer Rider. I have not totaled the total cost of all the treatments over the past 10 months, nor the total VPI reimbursement, but I can confirm that they covered a lot of the cost and the reimbursements were timely and consistent with what the policy guaranteed. I would generally get a check within 3-4 weeks of submitting the claim. Hemi beat the odds. He is currently cancer-free, healthy, and happy. There is no way I could have afforded to give Hemi the level of care he received without the assistance of VPI. I highly recommend VPI. I have never had a negative experience with VPI or with their customer service. For those who have had an issue with VPI, I would assume customer service would be receptive to your complaints. I will continue to patronize VPI and I recommend it to anyone who asks me about pet insurance. -Lindsay D., Washington, D.C.
