I have two cats who are almost 4 and I have had VPI since adopting them 3 years ago. Luckily, my cats have been healthy and safe. The rare occasions when they did need care, VPI was swift in payment and I got about 70% back within just a couple of weeks. The last trip to the vet was $300 and I received $223 back - over one year of premiums in just one visit. After having had a cat who lived with kidney disease and megacolon from the age of 10 to 15 - and the fortune I had spent caring for him the last few years of his life - pet insurance was necessary for me if I was going to adopt more cats. The premiums for the Superior Plan are reasonable and the fact that I get most of my vet bills back and am able to at least break even is like paying monthly advances on the unexpected. I always recommend having your vet help you with the claims form to maximize returns. VPI's staff is helpful and courteous and I have never had any problems with them. As long as you understand which plan is going to be the most cost effective for you, understand that there will be a deductible and that no insurance covers anything 100% (heck, people are only coverd at 80% and look at how much we pay!), you will be VERY happy with VPI. We are!
