We have had VPI insurance for 6 years and have submitted probably 4 or 5 claims. All have been processed in a timely manner. Although we only get a portion of our claim reimbursed (usually around 50%), it has definitely been worth it. Our dog just had surgery to remove a lung tumor, and we got close to $5000 reimbursed (we had paid extra for the cancer coverage). Now tell me that's not worth it. As in most cases it is important to be an informed consumer, know ahead of time what is covered and what is not covered, so there are no last minute surprises. Many breed specific genetic disorders are not covered for your breed, like hip dysplasia for our Bernese Mountain Dog. I would not go without pet insurance ever again. I would definitely consider VPI for our next pet.
