This summer while we were in Montana on vacation our 8 mo old puppy decided to eat a fish hook, which made its way into his little stomach. We took him to a local vet who did an xray, attempted to remove it through an endoscope, and when this failed did surgery to remove the hook directly- total cost for the tests, surgery, medications, and overnight stay was about $1400. We submitted the claim to VPI when we returned home, and within 4 weeks were sent a check for $1083, which seemed like a reasonable payment. They were accessible and answered our questions, and have even emailed to check on our puppy and sent him a birthday greeting. We are certainly glad to have had VPI, and would recommend it to others, especially for the accident prone puppy years!
