I shopped around for a policy for my Bernese Mountain Dog. My other two dogs have VPI and I find it adequate yet not as comprehensive as I would like and decided to try out a different company. I finally settled on Purinacare and hoped for the best and also hoped I wouldn't need it. Only a few short weeks after the policy went into effect my dog became sick with a repiratory illness that required numerous vet visits, an emergency vet visit and medications. I was aprehensive filing the first claim because I wasn't sure what to expect. The claims process was easy. I received written confirmation that my claim was received and being reviewed and not long therafter I received a check covering approximately 80% of the claim. Wow. I really like that their policy only has one deductible you satisfy and then it is basically an 80/20% payment much like a human policy and without all the complicated schedules, customary fees, etc... that VPI imposes. I have had really good experiences with their customer service department and they are very friendly and helpful. I am going to change my other two dogs from VPI to Purincare. Purincare made a believer out of me right off the bat and that is a good feeling to have when dealing with my most beloved dogs.
