I have had policies for my two dogs for many years. The insurance has always come in handy for those unanticipated illnesses and emergencies. This past year was very difficult as far as veterinary emergencies for us. My lab mix Carter tore his CCL and had to have surgery to repair his leg. Just a few months later, my other lab mix Maggie was diagnosed with Cushing's disease, which was determined to be caused by a tumor on her adrenal gland. The entire gland had to be removed surgically. You can imagine the astronomical costs associated with both specialized surgeries, all diagnostic tests, hospitalization fees, and follow up. VPI handled both claims efficiently and quickly, alleviating much of the financial stress associated with these . I do recommend reviewing the policy and what it reimburses for each diagnosis. I have always felt my reimbursements were fair and clear based on this information. I also like being able to pay in monthly installments, as it is easier for me.
