I purchased VPI for my older dog. Several months after my claim was in place, my dog slipped and hurt her right hip. I took her to see the vet, and processed the claim. Several months later, I had still not received a check. They wanted full vet records from every vet in the last 8 years. After processing all that information, they said it was a pre-existing condition. How could that be when it just happened. Well, I never did get my $80 re-inbursement and they managed to get 6 months worth of premiums from me before making up a story so they wouldn't pay out. I told my vet about this, and they also said they had nothing but problems with this company.
