Claim Denial

Out of 10

I purchased this insurance on 8/31/2007 throught the reccomendation of my company. On 9/3/2007 one of my dogs had an accident an hurt his neck. The claim I submitted was denied as a pre existing condition. even though the policy was ineffect 9/3/2007.

You made a claim 4 days after your policy went into effect. This would understandably raise a red flag in the claims department. I work for a homeowner's insurance company and I see this happen every day. I don't mean to imply your claim is false or fraudulent, but I think it's safe to say that this looks rather suspicious.

Embrace has a 14 day waiting period and 6 months for leg injuries unless you can submit evidence from your vet that there is no prior injury. It's not surprising they rejected your claim after only 4 days.

I'm curious to know if you had medical documentation from your vet on the day of the accident? Also, was there a medical review done beforehand? If a medical review was done at the time of your enrollment and it was determined that there was a problem already, then I see why your claim may have been denied. But if there were no problems documented before, then it seems as though Embrace should have paid up.

I agree with L, Embrace clearly states upfront that there is a 14 day waiting period and anything happening before then is considered a pre-existing condition. I'm currently researching pet insurance, and this seems to be standard in the industry. Please do research before posting a negative review as it falsely brings down the overall score for people who are searching.
