My Maltese had what appeared to be a seizure. (the 2nd in a 6 mo. period) I rushed him to Banfield who shrugged it off and said if it is ocurring at 6 mo intervals, it probably was nothing to worry about. A friend recommended I take him to Veretinary Specialists where a neurologist examined him -- immediately ordered a blood test and found an enormous amt of bile in his liver which was producing seizure like activity. I went to another vet who worked with Vet. Specialists - they put him on medication and took a blood test in 30 days which showed bile in liver normal. I tried to cancel Banfield Benefit plan but was told it was an annual plan and I would be billed - or sued for balance of year. Since the plan is automatically renewable, they would have to be notified 30 days in advance of renewal date to cancel. This was in May - plan expiration was Dec. Since I have to pay for balance of year I continue with Banfield only for preventive care shots until I can cancel in December. Banfield employees are personable but if your pet has a problem -- seek care elsewhere.
