We lost our Golden Retriever, Tucker, to cancer at the age of 6. It was a long, expensive battle, we were uninsured and we decided afterward that we would insure our pets from then on.
We did a lot of research and asked a lot of questions prior to purchasing our Petplan policy for our next dog, Finn.
At 1-1/2 our Golden Finn was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia and had to undergo two triple pelvic osteotomy surgeries--one on each hip, two weeks apart. These were expensive surgeries, over $3000 each with follow-up visits and x-rays and lots of medication.
We were so thankful we had made the decision to purchase Petplan insurance when he was a puppy!! They have been WONDERFUL to work with. We received our payments for each claim we filed in approximately a week, no hassles of any kind. My husband, on the other hand, is a research scientist with an international company with supposedly "great" insurance. When he shattered his wrist in February we found out his insurance plan is nothing but hassle after hassle. We have been in a mess of paperwork, denied claims that need to be resubmitted, partial payments, etc. Dealing with the insurance has almost been as bad as the injury and recovery. I wish we could have purchased Petplan to cover us!!
I have been recommending Petplan to all our friends with pets and have told our vet that if any of her other client
