In the Fall of 09 one of my dogs needed both a CT and MRI to determine the cause of ongoing limping. The CT determined that she has elbow dsyplasia however the MRI determined she had an injury to her rotator cuff. Since dysplasia is an uncovered condition the claim was denied (>$2500) I filed an appeal stating the Vet determined her limp to be due to her shoulder injury. VPI promptly requested vet records and response to a questionaire sent to my Vet. My hopes were not high. Imagine my surprise and delight when I received a check in the mail for the approved claim! While there will always be out of pocket expenses I am so glad I have insurance for both my dogs.
