We have had VPI since we first got our little Yorkie. She was eight months old at the time. She ate a small amount of the tainted dog food before we knew about the problems people were having. She got some slight kidney damage, now she is doing well, but has to have blood work every six months to check & make sure her protein level is not too high. Plus her routine care & vaccines. We had some pretty high vet bills the first year. Luckily with VPI we got back about half of what we spent.I'm so glad that we have pet insurance. After figuring out what we get back a year I figure it only costs me after that about $18.00 a month to have the insurance. That's a very reasonable price to have health insurance for your pets.
