I had VPI insurance on my dog, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, for 14 years. The breed as a whole does not have too many health problems so I debated whether to cover him. As it turned out, my dog had just about every medical problem in the book, and then some. Many of the things he got were rare and required specialists. This continued his whole life. Although I spent a fortune keeping my dog healthy, having the insurance really lessened the burden. As some of you have commented, the amount of the bill VPI covers, notably when going to very expensive specialists, is somewhat limited. However, the policy was so worth it for me and my pet. I found the staff at VPI very easy to work with.
