Don’t expect much back

3
Out of 10

Out of 4 claims, only one has paid ANYTHING back, and it was only a fraction of the costs. The first two were two separate claims that AKC claimed was a “pre-existing condition” even though it was an acute illness and then immediately another one with different symptoms. Even after a letter from the vet and full cooperation during the appeal process, they still kept the original decision. Exceedingly frustrated.

Lauren,

I'm so sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with your coverage. We do our best to make our terms and conditions as understandable and clear as possible to avoid any future confusion or frustration. Waiting periods and pre-existing are defined in your terms and conditions. It appears that your claims were denied due to the symptoms first appearing during the waiting period of the policy, which according to the terms and conditions would make them considered pre-existing. Any symptoms resulting from the pre-existing condition would be considered pre-existing.

I appreciate you and your vet's cooperation during the appeal process. Again, I'm sorry we weren't able to help you with this particular illness. I hope to be of help to you for future healthcare needs. If you have any questions or would like to further discuss your concerns, our Customer Care Supervisor, Adam, would be happy to speak with you.

Best,
AKC Pet Insurance
