Constant Premium Increases

Out of 10

I was excited when I signed up, stupidly thinking that the premiums would be somewhat fixed, but the 2018-2019 increases were double what I was paying and triple what I signed up for. I don’t want to use the term “bait and switch” because it’s not exactly that, but close enough for me to type it here. I made one claim in 3 years for about $100 because my vet is so affordable, yet I am told vet rates in my area are increasing, justifying huge increases. Self insure. Put some money aside.

I thought I was doing my cat a favor when I signed him up with Nationwide/VPI. For one year they charged me over $29 a month. Then a week ago I got a letter with a premium increase to $45.89/ monthly. I called and was told they had to make a large adjustment (that is not an adjustment!) in order to keep offering the program. If enough people are outraged over this large increase, they won't be able to offer the program anyhow. Chad's going to have to go without insurance for a short time; I need to research the best plan for him. We've submitted many claims for him and Nationwide has never said that we met the deductible. They have sent no payments for him either. He's a donor cat so I have trouble finding someone who will cover him.
