Don't pay for this insurance!!

I was told by my breeder that she signed me up for 30 days of free insurance through the AKC and when I turned in my substantial claim, they turned my claim down because not only did my breeder have to sign me up for the insurance, and did, it had to be "activated by me". I received an email and thought it was a copy with all the names on it. I have never had to sign up AND then have to "activate" it. Who would have guessed I had to "activate" my free insurance after signing up for it? In my opinion, they are just looking for any way to not pay. I would not recommend this insurance, clearly, they look for reasons not to pay. I'm sure there are plenty of other insurance companies with better ethics.

Hello Debra,
I apologize that there was some confusion with how the 30-Day Pet Insurance benefit worked. The 30-Day Certificate is a benefit of AKC registration, therefore registration must be completed coverage can be activated. Breeders typically provide new puppy owners with information on how to complete AKC registration and how to activate the insurance. Since activating entails completing registration, breeders typically do not activate the insurance. In regard to having to activate it, since we are an insurance company, we are not able to automatically enact the insurance. The new owner must take action to get the coverage. I’m sorry that you feel we do not want to pay claims. That is not our intention at all. If you have any questions or would like more clarification, we would be happy to speak with you. I hope your puppy is doing better.
