I got Petplan before I went to pick up my goldendoodle as a puppy of 7 weeks, and I have never regretted it. I tell all my friends and others (even strangers!) that I enthusiastically endorse pet insurance in general and Petplan in particular. When I was researching insurance companies Petplan was highly rated, and they deserve that praise. The plans are easy to understand, accounts are easy to manage online, and claims are paid promptly. The only challenge can be prodding your vet to turn in medical records and notes so as not to hold us the claims processing.
The real strength of Petplan by far, however are the "happiness managers" that help customers that contact Petplan directly! They are warm, friendly, interested in your pet, and most of all committed to solving issues and delivering above and beyond customer service.
Jedi was diagnosed early with severe hip dysplasia in both hips, and we opted for FHO surgery, a claim of 1500$ for the the procedure, not to mention hundreds of dollars or medication and follow up visits. Amanda from pet plan was a lifeline in helping me to sort and process the multiple claims I submitted for coverage of his ongoing care. Her genuine warmth and effectiveness were exactly what I needed as a concerned and overwhelmed pet parent, and employees like her are Petplan's greatest asset. They've made a lifetime customer out of me!
