We have been Petplan customers since 2012. Two years ago, our golden retriever Zeke had surgery for an intestinal blockage, and then developed a serious infection after surgery that required three weeks of hospitalization, additional surgeries, etc. The bill came to more than $20,000, but Petplan promptly reimbursed us everything but our $200 deductible (we were covered under the Gold plan). I was concerned whether our renewal bill would reflect a much higher premium for that experience, but as promised, Petplan reissued our policy with only the scheduled increase for age. We had no claims the following policy year, and happily renewed again. Last month, Zeke was diagnosed with acute lymphoma. When we learned of his diagnosis, we decided, after discussions with our vet, to try chemotherapy. When that initial treatment did not work, we decided it was best not to subject Zeke to additional treatment, and had him euthanized. We were able to make all those decisions based solely on what we hope was best for Zeke, and not, thanks to Petplan, based on how expensive the treatments might be. We can’t thank Petplan enough for giving us that peace of mind. Once again, Petplan promptly reimbursed our full claim, less deductible, as promised. We’re not sure if another dog is in our future, but I know that we would never have a dog without Petplan. We cannot recommend Petplan more highly.
