For over twenty years, my husband and I have been rescuing older Golden Retrievers, and for much of that time I didn't think it would be worth having pet insurance when so much of their medical history is unknown. For a variety of reasons, we now use PetPlan, and I have only wonderful things to say about this company. They are responsive, fair, and compassionate. In the past year or so, I've had to make claims for my dogs, and in each case I had a refund check within weeks of my filing the claim. One payment -- totaling over $5,000 -- was for my dog who ultimately died of gastric carcinoma; another -- around $400.00 -- was for a dental extraction. There have never been any surprises -- what the policy said would be covered, WAS covered. But it's not just the rapid and fair business practices I admire about PetPlan, it's the "human" side of the company that impresses me. Just about a month after my dog, Foster, died of gastric carcinoma, I received in the mail a sympathy card from the Morris Foundation; PetPlan had made a donation in memory of Foster.
