Almost 7 years with PetPlan

Out of 10

I have two beautiful mixed dogs, Mysti and Simba, both are a little over 7 years old. I researched pet insurance after another of my dogs was attacked and needed over $6000 in vet care. I barely had the money and promised myself I would get insurance so I never had to put money before my pet's care. I chose PetPlan mainly because they cover anything as long as it is not pre-existing, some insurers base coverage on breed. Also, I liked that they have flexible plans, i.e. annual coverage can me for $8000, $10,000, etc.; choose your own deductible, etc. I have the $20,000 plan with a $200 deductible for both dogs. This is very affordable for me, and definitely pays for itself. Through the years Simba and Mysti have had small issues; but on 4 Oct 2016 Simba was diagnosed with lymphosarcoma - cancer of the lymph nodes. He has to have chemotherapy every week for 6 months, and will get his fourth treatment tomorrow. What I love most about PetPlan is that when I was told the diagnosis, and treatment costs ($6000 - $9000), I never worried where it would come from because I knew Simba was covered. Also, I knew from past experience that claims would be taken care of quickly and correctly. To anyone out there reading these reviews, PetPlan takes away the financial burden and worry of affording the best care for your dog. Choosing them was one of the best choices of my 52 years.

Teresa...Well I hate to tell you but they do base there coverage on breed. Your Pups being mix-breeds get the lowest coverage possible. I know because my first dog insured with them was a mix breed. English Mastiff and Great Dane. Great premium and covered all of Wilson's numerous problems that I might add were heavy heart, Spondalosus (sp) of the spine, hip problems etc. The payout was awesome and the premium was very low. Next up was a Great Dane. Her premiums were three time the amount even for a 3 month old pup. They have increased every year to the grand total of $323.73 per quarter and a $500.00 deductible per condition, with a 70% reimbursement level, also a $15,000 annual vet allowance....She is only 5 years old. I guess they figure she is ready to cost them some $$$$. Her policy expires in January...guess they lost us as clients ..with Two Great Danes and one Siamese kitty.
