I have had petplan for nine years on 2 cats, and added a third cat in 2015. Their customer service and claims processing has been the best, and continues to be. However, this year for comparable coverage, and only paying 90% of vet fees instead of 100% my premiums literally doubled. Moreover, they removed the multi pet discount. What was even more distressing than the premium hike, was their letter saying how benefits are improved and more customized, when in fact the benefits and out of pocket have hugely increased. They were the best plan out there, with extremely competitive rates, but for a new and younger pet, I would not use them again. Nine years of loyalty means nothing, and they are no longer the best plan. I will no longer recommend them to friends, family and my vet's office, but suggest pet owners just do their homework and look at other plans. Again, great service, sweet and helpful on the phone, but no longer the best for your money. I am stuck with Petplan for my pets due to their age and possible pre existing with other insurers. If they lose new enrollees and their members are aging, I think the premiums will continue to go way up.
