Bronx is an 8 year old British Staffordshire Bull Terrier whose first epileptic incident started in February 2014. Soon after, break through seizures started to become more common from April – June. Our vet recommended that we go to Texas A&M Small Animal Teaching Hospital to further evaluate Bronx’s condition. On July 8th, we travelled 2 hours from Kingwood to College Station Texas for Bronx’s imaging to discover possible causes of his seizures. After 6 hours of waiting, we found out that Bronx had a mass (cancer) in his brain specifically on his right forebrain. As pet parents we were devastated with the news as prognosis was not good and the vet advised us if we did nothing Bronx may have 6 months to live. After further consultation we decided on tomotherapy, a form of radiation therapy provided by Texas A&M which operates in conjunction with CT image in order to target the cancer cells. Pet insurance was something we had always purchased for our dogs when we lived in Scotland and after extensive research we went with Pet Plan when we moved to Texas. I was relieved to find out that the therapy would be covered after deductible and co-insurance! We have been reimbursed $9,507.94 year to date for his condition. Having Pet Plan made this heart wrenching experience easier knowing that the people I spoke to were responsive, caring and efficient. We received our reimbursements within 2 weeks of submitting our claims. Thank you Pet Plan for your compassion throughout this process! I recommend Pet Plan to my friends and family whenever I get a chance!
