My 4 year old Mini Schnauzer, Bailey, woke up one morning and wasn't putting weight on her front left leg. I was extremely concerned and thought she was bitten by a snake or spider. I didn't notice any type of bit but rushed her to our vets office. After several tests, labs and x-rays the Vet was scratching her head as to why my Bailey wouldn't walk. The Vet finally noticed some swelling in her leg and thought it was something related to ligaments being torn or injured in some way. We were sent to an Orthopedic surgeon Veterinarian an hour away for a second opinion. I was extremely stressed out because we had already spent $500 at the Vet's office in our hometown only to walk away with no diagnosis but with the knowledge that she will probably need surgery to repair her ligament. Thankfully, our vet sent us to a wonderful specialist who determined she had a slab fracture in her "wrist" and she would definitely need surgery to repair it. It was so nice to not have to give it a second thought because we have Pet Plan insurance. I was able to schedule the surgery right then, leave my baby there and come back a few days later after the surgery was over. The Specialist's office filled out the Pet Plan Claim Form for me and sent it in. It was that easy!
My husband is currently deployed to Afghanistan, life is crazy and money is often tight. I am so glad we have pet insurance to cover these emergencies. With so many other stresses in my life right now it's nice not to have to
