I’m writing you in respects to the “tails of the unexpected” for the “Fetch” magazine.I think it’s so awesome how the magazine gives testimonials on how Petplan came through to help pet parents with the financial end of things for their furry little friends.
I am a pet parent of a wonderful loving full of life 7 year old Chihuahua, named Pico. Pico rescued my husband and I, seven years ago. My husband and I, at the time boyfriend and girlfriend, were looking for a Chihuahua puppy. (The deal was if he could have a Chihuahua puppy then I could get an engagement ring) Well, we found Pico in a newspaper add and visited with him the very next evening. One look at him, well that was it, we fell in love with him at first sight and the rest is history. (Yes, I did get my engagement ring!) The reason Pico rescued my husband and I, is because he has taught us so much in life, such as patience, unconditional love, and to never take one day for granted!
All those seven years ago, when we picked up Pico, little did we know he was born with luxating patellas. It wasn’t until he was a few months old that we realized what was wrong. At first we thought he had a broken leg because he would drag his back leg across the carpet and then yelp with a high pitched squeal. So we took him to the vet and here to find out he just had luxating patellas. (common in small dogs) His knees would pop out, and at the time, he didn’t realize how to put them back in.
